A NEW MAJORITY. A NEW MAYOR. A NEW ERA.
Well, it’s time to cast your vote in Enfield. Next Tuesday, November 6th you as residents’ will go to your voting precinct and decide who will lead Enfield for the next two years.
Over the past month I have introduced you to each candidate running for Town Council and Board of Education. Each candidate brings experience and understanding to our town government.
I want to give you one last look at each candidate and make some personal remarks on each person offering their time and talents to you the voter.
Our Council team is led by Scott Kaupin. If Republicans are elected to the majority, Scott will be our next Mayor. Scott is well known and has the character and intellect to lead Enfield. Along with Scott are Clem Dumont, District Four, and Joe Bosco, District One. Both these individuals have proven their abilities in their respective businesses. Clem has an accounting degree and Joe is a successful businessman. Along with this they have the reputation for caring about people and will represent their districts with openness and availability.
Council-at-Large candidates are Jason Jones, Bill Lee, Ken Nelson and Bill Ragno. Each of these talented men has served or is serving now on the Town Council. Jason is serving now on Planning and Zoning Commission and knows what Enfield needs to do to hold the line on taxes. Bill Lee has a passion for using historic preservation as a catalyst for economic & residential development across the town; and has been active in the restoration of the historic Hazardville Institute.
Ken Nelson is a successful businessman and has invested his time and money in Thompsonville, proving that he cares for the rebuilding of our most historic district. Bill Ragno is also a man of commitment and resolve to make Enfield the best it can be. He is leading the fight to collect over a million dollars of delinquent taxes.
On the Board of Education side of the Republican team we have Pat Droney, Andre Greco, Sue Lavelli-Hozempa, Chuck Johnson and yours truly, Greg Stokes.
Pat has served Enfield as a Police Officer and as a parent has given his time to assisting the Fermi Band. He has children in the Enfield School District and will work to bring them and your kids the best education possible. Andre has served on the BOE for the past two years and has showed that he knows what needs to be done to improve our schools, especially when it comes to school security.
Sue prides herself on understanding how school finances should run. She is an advocate for transparency of the school operation so that every citizen has access to every dollar spent. Chuck who has lived in Enfield all his life knows about the need of technology in the schools. He has been voice for prudent spending of your hard earned money.
As for me, I have been involved in local government for over seventeen years. I have served as Vice-Chairman of a BOE. I served this past year as Co-Chairman of the Budget Advisory Committee and am currently serving on Enfield’s Assessment Appeals Board. I know what it takes to bring great education and create savings for you the taxpayer.
Along with the Council and BOE candidates we have four individuals running for Town Constable.
They are Ron Gregory, Jake Keller, Brian Kozlowski, and Charlie Woods. These men will serve with energy and integrity.
Each person I have told you about I know personally and count as a good friend. I have observed them in their role in government and in life in general. I know that our Republican Team has what is needed for Enfield. They know what it felt like to get a tax increase because of re-evaluation. They know what our kids need in school, many being parents of children in the Enfield School District.
They know what to say yes to in spending and, they also know when it is time to say NO. We, as a team also know how to listen to you the taxpayer. We are committed to serving you with openness, transparency and respect.
So, I ask you to vote for me and vote for our team.
I look forward to serving our community with the people I have wrote about this last month . To make this possible please vote for the entire Republican team by voting across line “A” on your ballot.
I’m Greg Stokes and I approve this team!
