Republican Council Candidates Make It Right

With the summer over it is time to give you an insider’s view of the Republican candidates for November’s elections – today the Town Council.

I’ll start with incumbent At-Large Councilman William (Bill) Ragno. Bill is a lifelong resident, a manager at Rockville Bank, and graduated from Enfield High, Class of 1971. He earned an A.S. Degree at Asnuntuck Community College, and his B.A. Degree from Western New England College.

Bill is a member of the Republican Town Committee, the July 4th Celebration Committee and the Mt. Carmel Society. He also is a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army.

Running on the slate with Bill is newcomer Clemence B. Dumont, known as Clem to her friends, which is basically everyone who has ever met her. Clem is making her first bid for public office in Enfield where she is a nearly 30-year resident.

Clem is a naturalized citizen who came to America from Quebec in 1966. She received her A.S. Degree from Asnuntuck Community College, where she graduated with High Honors, as she did from the Hartford Institute of Accounting.

Clem is a member and officer in the Enfield Women’s Club, Queen Mum of the Enfield Red Hat Society “Firecrackers of Enfield,” and is an advisor to the Executive Board of the "Sun Valley Resort" Campground.

Another familiar face on the Republican slate is returning At Large Councilman Ken Nelson, a well-known local businessman.

Ken speaks his mind and is known on the council as an independent thinker who sticks up for the taxpayers. He is owner of American Dreams Real Estate, and is a member of the Enfield Small Property Association and the Republican Town Committee.

As part of his work and his commitment to Enfield, where he is a lifelong resident, Ken has revitalized many homes in the Thompsonville area.

Next up is Joseph Bosco, co-owner with his brothers of Bosco Automotive, a multi-generational family business started by their late father. They do mechanical work, body work and towing.

Joe is a lifelong resident, graduate of Enfield High and a director of the 4-Town Fair. Taking his first shot at public office Joe is highly knowledgeable of town government and full of ideas on how to make things better.

Also running for council at large is William F. Lee. He too is a lifelong resident, and a graduate of Fermi High School and Eastern Connecticut State University.

Bill works in the Information Technology field for Golden Consulting Group LLC. He has been active in numerous community organizations including the Boy Scouts, the Youth Services Advisory board, the Hazardville Institute Conservancy, the Enfield Revitalization Committee, July 4th Celebration Committee and the Calvary Presbyterian Church.

If you want experience on the Republican slate it is hard to get more than that offered by Scott R. Kaupin.

He has been a District 3 Councilman since 1993 and the list of organizations both civic and political that he belongs to or serves on is lengthy. Scott also is a graduate of Fermi High School, has lived in Enfield his entire life, and earned his B.A. Degree in Political Science from the University of New Hampshire, and his Masters in International Relations from Syracuse University.

Scott is a logistics manager for Retail Brands Alliance here in Enfield. If he has one burning passion outside of politics it would have to be golf.

The Republican slate of Town Council candidates is rounded out by Jason M. Jones who currently serves on the Planning and Zoning Commission and has previously served as a Councilman At Large, and served on the Zoning Board of Appeals.

Jason is deeply involved with the July 4th Celebration Committee.

Jason is a lifelong resident, graduate of Fermi High School, and works in advertising sales at the Reminder News. Jason has served on many civic and political committees, is a past treasurer of the Republican Town Committee, and is an original member of the Enfield Patriot Award Committee.

Voters who are considering a vote for Jason will be comforted to know that they are in good company – he is engaged to be married next year.

So there they are, the Republican candidates for Town Council. They make a balanced team, and are dedicated to the slogan for this year’s campaign – Enfield Republicans, Make It Right!
